This gave me a solution when screen would immediately exit with the message " screen is terminating » ". Remount /dev/pts thusly:
sudo mount -o remount,rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=600,ptmxmode=000 /dev/pts

Used this recipe for Free Lunch with 2 #10 cans of collard greens, 4 LARGE onions, 2 Tbs paprika, 6 cups crushed tomatoes, and 3 or 4 Tbs Scotch Bonnet pepper sauce. Very good.
